Here’s How to Really Use a Peeling Mask

There are hundreds of different masks in the market — sheet masks, oil masks, cream masks, peel-off masks, peeling and exfoliating wax, and many more. Each one has different benefits and will give your skin the boost it needs.

Personally, I prefer using a peeling mask. I religiously use Black Pearl, a luxury cosmetics line in the Philippines by Sea of Spa — particularly its Age-Control Pearl Peeling Mask. It promises deep cleansing and reveals a new layer of younger-looking skin.

It works by exfoliating dead skin cells, which helps speed up the cell renewal process. The product has really small pearls which help exfoliate the skin without damaging it. I use it once every week as provided by the instructions, and it sure does make my skin look younger!

Sure, I don’t look ten years younger, but it shows immediate effects every after use, without giving you the feeling of dry skin. My wrinkles and fine lines are visibly reduced, and my face feels a lot cleaner. If you are wondering how I use a peeling mask, then keep on reading!

1. Apply after your warm shower

Although it’s a lot easier to apply a mask before showering so you can just wash it off after, doing it after your shower is actually better. The warm water opens up your pores and allows the mask to seep right through it.

The warm steam of the water will also soften up the gunk that has built up in your pores, making it easier for you to wash it away after applying the mask.

2. Use lukewarm water to rinse it off

When it is time to take it off, remember to use lukewarm or room temperature water. Contrary to popular belief, you should not wash your face with cold water after applying a mask. Cold water is not capable of breaking down the product, which means that some of it will be stuck in your pores.

Use lukewarm water instead to close your pores while still being able to take all the residue off your face.

3. Use a toner and moisturizer after

Complete your skincare regimen by applying a toner that is right for your skin type. This will help the moisturizer seep into your skin later on, plus it cleans your skin even more and helps you get rid of the extra gunk.

Avoid toners with high amounts of alcohol, as this can further irritate your skin.

Taking care of your skin is a must, especially if you want to remain young-looking even after the years have passed. Grab a peeling mask today to start your journey to looking younger!
