Here’s Why You Should Start Using Manuka Honey for Your Skin

There has been some buzz around town that manuka honey is great for treating acne. Manuka honey comes from New Zealand and is made up of sugars, amino acids, vitamins and minerals, and antimicrobial compounds.

Due to its amazing ingredients and low pH, it is often used as an active ingredient in skin care products. I personally use Kedma Skin Care Philippines’ Manuka Honey Peel, as it helps prevent my skin from breaking out. It smoothens out my skin and removes the dead skin cells, revealing a youthful-looking glow.

Since I have started using this honey peel, I have noticed that my breakouts have dramatically lessened. I have acne-prone skin and I find that this product not only keeps my skin clear but also reduces the redness on my face.

You can also take the raw honey and use it in different ways:

As a cleanser

Wet your face and take a few drops of the manuka honey. Carefully massage it on your face in circular motions, making sure to be gentle when doing so. Manuka honey, even when diluted, still maintains its antibacterial properties, allowing it to still sink right through your skin. Rinse your skin thoroughly and pat dry using a clean towel.

Mix to make a mask

Mix the honey with either of the three: ground oats, lemon juice, or honey. Apply on your face, leave it on for at least 15 to 30 minutes, and then rinse it with warm water thoroughly.

Spot treatment

Take a small amount of honey and put it directly on your active pimples. Leave it on overnight and rinse with warm water the morning after.

Personally, I would prefer to use products incorporated with the manuka honey. It definitely is less messy and easier to use!
